Cars for Homes

Your Car Builds Homes

You may not expect it, but your car, motorcycle, boat, or RV can support the construction of affordable housing, right here in the Cape Fear Region.

Whether you’re upgrading your vehicle, managing an estate, or feel like you’re running out of options for a vehicle that needs some help, your donation to Cape Fear Habitat can have a meaningful impact. Fill out the interest form, submit your donation, and if your vehicle is eligible, we’ll schedule a free pickup and bring your donation receipt. It’s easy, free, and it opens the door to possibility for local families.

FAQ
What can I donate?

We accept cars, trucks, SUVs, RVs, boats, motorcycles, and other vehicles and equipment. Fill our the interest form and select “Other” under “What kind of vehicle are you donating?” to give us some information. We’ll be in touch shortly!

Do you accept non-running vehicles?

Each vehicle submission is reviewed by our team; while we accept cars that do not run, they must have four inflated tires so that we can transport the vehicle, and be in otherwise “whole” condition.

If I donate a boat, do I have to donate the trailer?

Yes, as the trailer is needed in order to transport the vehicle.

Are there tax benefits to donating my vehicle?

Cape Fear Habitat is a 501(c)(3) organization, so contributions, including a vehicle donation, may be claimed as deductions on your federal tax return, if you itemize. We recommend talking with your accountant or advisor for a full list of tax benefits.

How quickly can my vehicle be picked up?

We evaluate each submission individually, so our schedule – and yours! – will be taken into account when scheduling a pickup.

What information do I need to submit?

Questions marked with a red asterisk on the form are required. These questions include:

  • Year of vehicle
  • Type of vehicle
  • Make and Model of vehicle
  • Package (ex. XLT, King Ranch, Platinum, etc.)
  • Mileage
  • Condition
  • Whether it’s Driveable and Date Last Driven

We will also collect your contact information for scheduling and donation processing purposes.
